April 21st, 2015. Rioja Vega Gran Reserva 2009 has been chosen by the Regulatory Council of the D.O.Ca. Rioja to represent this region at institutional events to be held this year in Spain and abroad. In a blind tasting, an official tasting panel of the D. O. Ca. Rioja chooses each year the wines that will represent the region. In the Gran Reserva category, the wine that will have the honour is the new Rioja Vega Gran Reserva 2009. This is not the first time that a Rioja Vega wine has been selected with this purpose. Last year, for example, the wine chosen was Rioja Vega Gran Reserva 2005. Rioja Vega wines have received awards from prestigious international competitions, such as the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles and the International Wine Challenge, as well as exceptional ratings and critics from The Wine Advocate, the Wine Spectator, Wine Enthusiast, or the British newspaper The Independent on Sunday, to name but a few. Founded in 1882, Rioja Vega is today a benchmark for quality and unique style in Spain and abroad

TRY HAVING IT WITH THIS EASY BUT UTTERLY DELICIOUS BRAISED BEEF – I added a couple of sprigs of rosemary and a bit of lemon peal to mine. Yum Yum

Wine of the week 7th July 2017 – Chosen by James
Two years in oak barrels plus another 4 years in cellar before release. As smooth and complex a wine as you could hope to find. The most highly rated Gran Reserva in Rioja as chosen by the Rioja Promotional body worldwide at all their dfinners and tastings to promote Rioja. Quite simply a stunning bottle of wine and even better value with its 10% off. The last bottle of wine I drank and the first one I want to drink again.
